Autumn Strawberry
At the back and along one side of our deck it is protected by a wall of boulders and earth. As part of the project we stripped away all the nettles, brambles and other weeds, which left us with some patches of earth and boulders. We've been filling these bits of earth with different plants and with bulbs but one of the first plants was this strawberry. It arrived on Jan's birthday at the start of June in a big hanging pot and kept up a stream of strawberries until summer definitely ended. Then we planted it here. Now it is providing a burst of colour, and sending out runners so hopefully it will survive the winter and give us more berries next year.
Talking of winter, it was around 12°C today, feeling very unseasonably warm. But it made working outside rather pleasant.
Between bursts of outdoor work we had two lots of visitors today, each staying an hour or so before they moved on to other events. It was quite like old times, like those pre-pandemic days!
