Reach for the Sky

I fly often, and in winter approaching the runway over bare trees often gives me the impression of a host of living beings, reaching upwards to the sky and the sun.

Which is, of course, what thy are. It's just that normally, from he ground, we see them as 'trees', providing shade in the summer and bare in the winter.

I have no been flying today, but this tree reminded me of this change in perception.

Each winter, we think it must be dying, as it is twisted and broken in places. But each summer it bears a full crown of leaves.
