# 8 scalper
NO CLANGERS WERE HARMED TAKING THIS PHOTOGRAPH.
Today's word in the Dictionary Project is "scalper". This was the word that my finger landed on when I opened the dictionary but it didn't really define it other than say it was a noun. There was a lengthy definition of "scalp"
n the outer covering of the skull; the top or hairy part of the head; the skin on which the hair of the head grows; a piece of skin torn off as a token of victory by N. American Indians; a bare rock or mountain top. - vt to cut the scalp from; to buy cheap in order to resell quickly at a profit; (of theatre, travel and other tickets) to buy up and sell at other than official prices (US); to destroy the political influence of (US). - n.scalper.
There are a couple of parts of this definition which I hadn't heard before so I learned something. Apologies to any native Americans who do not like being referred to a American Indians. This is a direct quote from the Chambers Maxi Dictionary and not my words.
HOORAY! HOORAY! HOORAY! It's Friday. I'm much cheerier and have some fresh baked rolls waiting for me straight out of the oven.
Have a great weekend blippers when the time comes :-)
Origins of the Dictionary Project
I took the baton from Banana Blips on the Dictionary Project. This was initiated by Scattered Polaroids who is currently working on another great project.??If you follow the links above you will see how they both introduced the project and be at the beginning of their entries. The idea is to select a word randomly from the dictionary each day and illustrate it in your blip.
