Remembrance with a Difference
One of my first tasks on returning to work was to produce guidance for the parishes in our district on how Remembrance Sunday might be celebrated during the Covid restrictions. It was going to be very different from previous years. I have been struck by the strength of support for this day in more recent years, something I don't believe was as strong during the 70s and 80s, at least around where we lived.
With the recently implemented lockdown things were even more restricted and talking to the parish clerks last week I was aware that formal celebrations were even more curtailed. I popped out first thing in the morning to capture this image at our local village. It was really foggy but I still felt this aged treatment was appropriate for this image.
Later, we took ourselves off along the local canal for some exercise. We met a fisherman who had caught something we had never seen before (see extra). He told us this is an American Crayfish, much larger than our native variety and a danger to them. The pincer on the claw is a good inch long to give you an idea of its size. It was very feisty when approached with a section of reed.
