Poppy crossing outside the Poppy Factory

The pedestrian crossing very near the Poppy Factory in Richmond has been painted! See also the extras ..a sign to the poppy factory and the Poppy Factory building. I visited this about a week ago and again today as I cycled round to some of the war memorials in the area. This is the first poppy-themed crossing in the UK which was installed by Richmond Council’s contractors Conway. The Poppy Factory has been in Richmond since 1925 and since then has employed veterans with health challenges to create poppies, wreaths and other Remembrance products for the Royal British Legion and the Royal Family. A major redevelopment of the factory is nearly complete, including a new visitor experience that will open to the community in 2021. This will tell the story of the Poppy Factory in Richmond.
