Remembrance

Here’s a wee clipping my mum sent in remembrance of my great grandfather who died in the Clydebank bombings. He refused to come to the safety of my grandparents house in the South side. A direct hit on his house was discovered by my grandfather the next morning and so with it the course of that side of my family’s life dramatically altered. You wonder if they had lived how different things would have been.
So a dour day started here on our usual walk from Roslin to home. Fabulous display of poppies on the bushes behind the war memorial and two new hares have popped up since last week.
The rain came from nowhere and didn’t stop. Proper frizzle weather so the bacon buttie at home was rather welcome. Rummikub, the papers, endless teapot then another stroll in the rain along the Porty Prom. Still some brave swimmers in the sea although we were just as wet.
Home
More tea, more papers and a roast beef. Classic November Sunday, how lucky we are
