Dipper
Although the weather this weekend has been dull and very foggy at times, it hasn't stopped us from venturing out.
This second lockdown is more about keeping a safe distance from everyone, without the emphasis of 'stay at home'.
Takeaways are still operating but we have elected to cater for ourselves in our camper van. So, over the last couple of days, we have enjoyed picnics both on the moors and at the beach.
Today we headed east to Budleigh Salterton and, just like yesterday on Dartmoor, hundreds of others had the same idea.
Everyone was very polite, waiting in 'passing places' on the footpaths so that a metre distance was maintained at all times
We walked along the estuary mudflats and then up the valley towards Otterton. No beavers or kingfishers today but I did spot a Water Rail having a very quick bath before diving back under cover again.
The light levels were failing, even by 2pm, so the two shots I managed of the water rail aren't very sharp. but I'll put one in extras just for my record
Luckily this little Dipper came to my Blip rescue, his white shirt catching my eye as he bobbed up and down on his branch.
