Against the (red) light

Not a quality photo I'm afraid, but the color of this red maple is quite amazing. Spent time in my mom's garden today clipping back perennials and frosted soggy hostas. The chickadees expressed great displeasure at the intrusion, and after we went back inside it was insta-bird at all the feeders - hummingbirds, juncos, jays, towhees, and downies. Later Mom and I went off to Squak Mountain Nursery and bought some allium and paper white bulbs to plant. (It had never occurred to me that the name Squak Mountain was related to the town Issaquah...that might be trivia for local blipper Tookie!) The rain kindly held off til evening. Apple crisp for dessert.
