Yawning Tree......
We were meant to be in Keswick for the weekend but that's for another weekend now. Instead we walked local. In fact the very same initial walk we did when the UK was in the first lockdown in March.
We parked at Trentham Gardens walked to join the Trent and Mersey Canal. We veered off when we reached the Wedgewood factory, crossing fields to reach the village of Barlaston. From there we headed to Downs Bank, a small area of woodland and heath owned by the National Trust.
We then walked along the road back to the canal. We then had to cross the A34, a major dual carriageway. But traffic was lighter than usual. A little way up the A51 we took a footpath onto Tittensor Chase. An ancient barrow called Saxon's Lowe is found nearby. The chase leads us into the village of Tittensor, and then on to the start of the Trentham Estate.
The final part of the walk takes us through the woods above Trentham Gardens back to the car park. A marvellous 5 hour walk. This image was taken in these woods. And I had to use my phone as a camera as I'd forgotten to put my memory card back into my camera!!
