Govanhill Picture House
I've been on a few Zoom meetings recently about what is being planned for the next stages of the Ghost Signs of Glasgow project. The two big things coming up are an Exhibition and a Book. We have exhibition space from around March/April next year and have plans to make it an online virtual exhibition. But there is a flicker of hope (no more than that) that visiting it in person may be a possibility by then.
I've been re-photographing some like this where the images held are not suitable for printing up to the sizes requited to exhibit. In some cases the quality isn't too good but usually its just the small-ish file sizes that are causing the problem.
This cinema opened in 1926 and was based on an Egyptian Design. It was a popular 1200 seater cinema until the early 60s when it converted to Bingo. Closed in 1974. I can't use it as a dereliction picture as part of it is curently being used as a clothes warehouse.
