Walk on the Wild Side
Well, not that wild, although we were definitely off the road at this point. Dodgy stomach for most of the day but was feeling better late afternoon so decided we should re-instigate the lockdown tradition of going for a walk to get some exercise.
Unlike April, the weather was definitely not as clement, and it was already starting to get dark at 4pm.
Took a slight detour in order to get the picture. Always liked this sculpture, which was carved from the remains of a condemned tree by a local wood sculptor about six years ago, in memory of a friend of his. Originally it was just two plain hands with a “friendship” bench beneath, but the bench has partly rotted away now and two years ago the sculptor was given permission to paint the hands in the colours shown, to promote racial harmony.
Carried on homewards, noting that the school run was underway - another big difference to the spring, when schools were firmly closed. It really does seem that apart from the gym being closed, pretty well everything else is carrying on as normal, in one form or another. Sounds like some good news on the vaccine front though. Let’s hope this means there will be no need for another lockdown after Xmas and we really can start looking forward to getting back to some sort of normality.
