HMS Pheasant
When the cats came in, using torches, and wearing rubber boots, we knew it was going to be an inside day. It's a very rainy and windy sooth-easterly which looks set in for some time.
Back in March the Hoy Heritage Centre closed its doors. At the time the current Exhibition featured the Govan built Destroyer HMS Pheasant. It was sunk, with all 89 crew, when it hit a mine in 1917 off Hoy. Like many such vessels it seemed to become lost in the maritime marginalia until being re-located in 1996. A memorial stone is proposed on the path to the Old Man.
The good news on re-entering the Hoy Kirk is that all other exhibits are in decent nick considering the damp kirk and locale. Stour levels weren't too bad either.
The stove is on, CMC is making a date and orange tea-loaf.
Angela Pleasence is 79.
