Worsbrough - a walk on a former pit site

I had a walk with Barbara and Eddie this morning from Worsbrough village. Although I’ve been to two funerals in the church I don’t know the area where we walked today.  Barbara was able to fill in some of the history, while Eddie took himself off to check out the sniffs along the route and occasionally greet other walkers he knew.  This area would once have been covered with the vast heaps of spoil that came out of the ground with the coal.  Today the area looks as though it’s been largely planted with Silver Birch trees, so I managed this splash of colour on what actually was a very dull and dark day.
