Brazilian Butterfly
Oxalis triangularis subspecies papilionacea also known as purpleleaf false shamrock or Brazilian Butterfly. This is probably my favourite houseplant (I currently have two of these) because the shape of its leaves resembles butterflies, its interaction with light to produce an array of colours and its trick of folding its leaves away in the dark. Its the nearest I come to a butterfly at this time of year although I did see a common darter dragonfly this morning.
