Fungo caputaqua

Autumn is a time where the cooler, darker and damp conditions promote growth of the fruiting bodies of toadstools and mushrooms.

Usually a trip through a wooded area will reveal a number of suitable specimens to blip.

But not today.

No decent specimens of any species were seen.  They were either old and decaying or well eaten into by slugs and their allies.

Instead, I offer you this which I have tentatively identified as the rarely seen Fungo caputaqua - the water-headed fungus.
