On the road

Spent the day cleaning Stan the van, provisioning and packing, hit the road to Totaranui in the Abel Tasman National Park. The road that took us over the mountain became a narrow gravel track with sheer drops one side into bush (jungly forest ) and eroding cliff face the other side with landslide evidence frequently seen! Stan ran great and is easy to drive. Campsite is on the ocean front, provides picnic tables and a fire pit with wood to cook on and snuggle round in the chilly evenings. 15 NZ dollars pppn feels like a lot when weve brought our own home, but what an incredible place. We'll be looking into 'freedom' camping for much of the time to keep the cost down and get a sense of the great wilderness that is everywhere here.
