Art In The Time Of Coronavirus

One of the things I miss most in this time of pandemic is visiting art exhibitions. So I was delighted to discover that the National Museum Of Art in Osaka is currently hosting an exhibition of 61 paintings from London's National Gallery. It is the first time ever that the National Gallery has exhibited beyond it's own walls.

Although the highly promoted highlight of the exhibition is one of Van Gogh's Sunflowers paintings, that was not the big draw for me. I'm not a great fan of Van Gogh, to be honest. My favourite works were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coltman by Joseph Wright of Derby, A Seaport by Claude and, eclipsing them all, Ulysses Deriding Polyphemus - Homer's Odyssey by Joseph Mallord William Turner.
