Paddling over reflections

The morning was spent ensuring that everything was put away that could be so that the Open Home could take place. We left the agent there and went off to see a possible house with garden out west. Got there just as that agent was leaving, but she delayed a little for us to look through very quickly. As with all we have seen there are pluses and minuses. This time rather more was positive. But .....

Then a visit to daughter J during which our agent rang to report on the Open Home. Quite a bit of interest, apparently; so we now wait and see if that is maintained or increased (or disappears).

Then to Titirangi Library for a poetry reading. S was one of two featured poets. Then there was an opportunity for everyone to read a poem. I decided (very last minute) to read my most recent Book Spine Poem.

Afterwards we drove north to Snells for the night. Immediately after arriving I took a walk in Highfield Reserve, and saw this immature Parera (the NZ Grey Duck). It has five siblings and there was another group of four younger (ie smaller) ducklings which also seemed to be Parera or at least Parera dominant.

On the Auckland Birds site there has been some talk about the way that Mallards are interbreeding with Parera, and the result is fewer pure Parera. Here at Snells, the Parera appear to congregate at Southend of Snells Beach and in Highfield Reserve. Worth keeping an eye on.

Dinner out with S and her brother and his partner. Returned to post my blip, to find that I can't upload from my MacBook. Airdrop to iPad, and I was able to successfully upload the photo, and am adding these words after the fact.
