... and goings
I'm a strong believer in paying attention to what people do as well as what they say and for me the most telling action of Dominic Cummings was not, for example, his trip to Barnard Castle, but rather the fact that just prior to his subsequent press conference in the Rose Garden, he went back and edited an old blog post to make it appear that he'd predicted the pandemic.
At the end of the day, he is a cunning political animal but he's not the genius he's desperate for people to think he is. He is, unfortunately, an effective destructive force but when it comes to his (positive) achievements once he was at the very heart of government, there's not a single one he can hang his hat on.
When the news of his sacking broke, this evening, Dan, Abi, and I enjoyed an impromptu toast and celebration. I doubt we've seen the last of Cummings but I'm delighted that he's gone.
Today's photo was taken as I ran along Barbondale, this afternoon, enjoying what is possibly my favourite run. And I have a confession to make; knowing just how muddy it would be running back along the other side of the valley, I wore some old running shoes rather than my shiny new white ones.
