Garden forage
My latest challenge is to use these myrtle berries which, I notice, are at their peak now. What was a tiny shoot given by a friend is now a small tree that brushes our heads as we walk to the porch door.
Popular as an ingredient in Sardinia, myrtle berries have a variety of culinary uses and can feature in sweet, savoury and alcoholic mediums.
Some of my preserves (foraged from the back of the larder shelves) are very well preserved - see extra. Tastes wonderful!
