Town Field & Dyers Beck
During a very brief gap in the rain clouds I nipped into Kendal for some essential shopping (petrol) and some essential exercise ( getting a Blip). Interested and pleased to see some inventive flood management is being trialled in Town Field which collects the water rushing down Kendal Fell towards the Dyers Beck which had been hidden beneath the field. Usually after heavy rain the field became a very muddy mess and the surrounding houses got flooded. The Beck has been revealed and meandered. The "field" is going to be allowed to become a wetlands instead of fighting the losing the battle to be a field. I look forward to seeing it develop and hope it works to stop the houses flooding.
And of course now we can see Dyers Beck again we can imagine the dyers of old and know where the name came from.
