Our appointment at the uni vet’s turned out to be 7.30 am Friday, not today, so I had a bit of a wander while Fluffy was chauffeured back home. Hadn’t noticed the grotesques - apparently they’re gargoyles without the water spout - on the cloister’s beams before. Through the opening there’s a glimpse of the new Illawarra flame tree on the lawn.
