Hallas Bridge
I was born just above this bridge in the Goit Stock valley at Hallas Farm (Hallas is thought to be a localisation of Hallowes) so this part of our early walk today is very familiar to me as is the whole valley. It was a damp start at 7.30 as I set off within my neighbour. Lots of water in the Beck and the waterfalls following the weekends rain. Waterfalls aren’t my favourite photography subject and the are rather over used I think but a love tge old bridge and its surrounding Beech leaf carpet.
There were no steps up thus steep part of Hallas
Lane when I was a girl and I don’t remember such extensive mud on the route from here to the top side of the woods to return to the village. The field you have to cross has always been wet and I remember it being enjoyed by pigs but then mud from here in today was dreadful. Luckily I was wearing my Muck boots. Think it’s going to be that sort of winter. Non the less I enjoyed the walk and company.
Breakfast and shower before joining the Community choir for Monday morning's ‘sing’ on Zoom. A good start to a new week.
You can see the main waterfall blipped into this day four years ago here
