Lodge
I pass this Lodge most days .... thought a blip was long overdue.
It was built on the Cassiobury Estate which was owned by the Earl of Essex.
The estate existed from 1540 - 1922. It was taken over by the Borough Council from 1929.
The History of Watford states:
'This unusual grade II listed building was described by John Britton in his 1837 book as “the most elaborate in execution; its whole exterior being covered, or cased with pieces of sticks of various sizes split in two”. Designed in the early nineteenth-century this lodge originally housed two families employed by the Cassiobury Estate'.
Shift Leader at Sams until 11.00pm tonight.
Take care everyone.
