Back home again!
Dark, wet and windy again today. I had a quick drive around the town this afternoon to check roughly where the council floral tubs are, as tomorrow a Keep Oban Beautiful friend and I are going to check up on them all and see what needs to be done. Quite a few are damaged, several of the three-tier units are not upright, and most of them are dirty. KOB might get involved in keeping these looking good next year.
Driving past the North Pier I noticed that the craneship 'Lara1' is back. I Blipped her eleven days ago - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2771798314004253644 - before she set off to recover the fish farm workboat 'Tiffany of Melfort' from her temporary grave in the north part of the Minch. She'd broken her moorings off the the west coast of Skye and drifted northwards before sinking off the Shiant Islands. She was only two years old and had cost £1.1 million to build, so was obviously worth salvaging. She had some damage to her bows but looked remarkably good after being underwater for some time. Limerick of the Day:
A communist cruise ship outbound,
Charged fifty-five roubles all found.
Royalty, toffs and the peerage
Were put up in steerage
And any Conservatives drowned.
