BEECH HOUSE

Another disturbed nights sleep so I'm feeling rather weary this evening.  Resorted to taking  a codeine earlier and that's made me sleepy ... maybe I should have taken it just before bedtime.  Anyway it seems to have helped with the pain.

I did get out of the house today as I wanted a blip shot.  The Wide Wednesday theme is " Industrial " .  As I'm limited to taking shots in and around the village at the moment there was nothing really suitable which was handy.  So here is Beech House.  The tenuous link to Industrial is that Beech House opened as a private boarding school for boys in 1815 and  industrialist William Armstrong was educated here.

William Armstrong ( 1st Baron Armstrong CB FRS 1810 - 1900) was an English engineer and industrialist who founded the Armstrong Whitworth manufacturing concern on Tyneside. He was also an eminent scientist, inventor and philanthropist. In collaboration with the architect Richard Norman Shaw, he built Cragside in Northumberland, the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity.  He is regarded as the inventor of modern artillery. He was knighted in 1859 and in 1887 he was raised to the peerage as Baron Armstrong of Cragside.

Sorry this is the best I could come up with today - thanks to BobsBlips for hosting.

Neil did his 18 miles today.  His route took him along the banks of the River Tyne to Wylam and back.  See Extra. He found it tough ..... not surprising as he doesn't get a day off to recover between runs.
