Karearea (Falcon)

This morning I had a lovely drive up the Cardrona Valley, looking for colourful lupins.  Sadly, there were very few about, most have been sprayed.  However, I struck gold when I arrived at the Cardrona Village.  This is a metal sculpture of the Karearea (NZ Falcon) which is on display near the Cardrona Hotel.  The extras missed the cut.

(1)  The Cardrona Hotel  (2)  Single man's stone hut.  (3)  The old bed!
(4)  In the Hotel grounds  (5)  Another view of the Karearea  (6)  A close up of the flowering tree.

This afternoon it has been very hot, +24C.  There were 15 people playing croquet, and we all felt the heat.  Nice to be home now and in the shade.
