The Cage
The structure called The Cage was built as a hunting lodge and used as a banqueting house on the Lyme Hall Estate. It has a sundial on three of the four vertical faces.
After booking tickets for today, when we arrived first thing, we were redirected from the closed main entrance to a narrow pot-holed back lane. On trying to check in the lady on duty said we weren't supposed to come and should have had an email telling us so, but she let us in anyway to an empty car park. We had the gardens and grounds pretty much to ourselves; very enjoyable. We had booked our entry for 9.30-10am. The email arrived at 11.41am!
Of note for my blip is that I took this shot with AN ACTUAL CAMERA instead of my phone... wonders will never cease.
