Fly casting (a long shadow)...

Today was another glorious Spring-like day, with warm sunshine, despite the frost not thawing in the shade. Warm enough, in fact, to encourage the emergence in my garden of this rather beautiful fly at lunchtime. I'm not sure what species it is. It was warming itself on my summerhouse. I love to see the return of a wider range of insects in Spring. I'm waiting now for the first bumblebee!
