and a work-in-progress pond.

The same farm worker found these cast iron bench ends in a flea market (nothing he liked better than poking round a flea market).  He added 12 lovely oak slats to make a really comfortable bench.

Last Summer we put this bench where it is now and it was whilst sitting on it that we had the idea of digging the pond.

Here is the before and the installation

The pond is nearly full of water now and we have planted iris, zantedeschia, ferns and primroses round it, and some purifying acquatic plants in baskets on the shelves under water.  Next Spring we will sink some waterlilies in the centre.  We hope that when all the plants are lush they will disguide the green plastic edge and make it much more natural.  Lots more blips to come...
