Past its best

Struggling in a rough patch on the very edge of a busy footpath.
We tried to go for a walk in the Abbey meadows this morning but plans were thwarted by long stretches of ankle deep mud, the worst that we have seen in the forty odd years that we've lived here, and winter is only just starting:-(
