A 'charmuration' of goldfinches

As dusk approached today, I looked out across the valley and saw a flock of goldfinches had gathered in the tree at the bottom of the garden. Usually about a dozen gather, but today I stopped counting at fifty. The light under the cloudy sky wasn't good but I quickly took some pictures. I thought I'd share this relatively rare event, which I call a 'charmuration', as a flock of goldfinches is called a 'charm'. This crop shows a small selection of them. Our garden looks south over The Horns valley towards Thrupp, Brimscombe and Butterow.
