Update

As promised but very late.  I have cleaned out the hearth and my neighbour found a grate. I have found a piece of slate at the end of the garden which i may be able to make work with a bit of cutting and adjustment. Also found a few logs and 3, what might be fire bricks which my late father had packed up in a box. So far this has cost me nothing except time and effort. I would really like to have a gas fired 'wood burning stove' here. But that will cost a lot.........
