A beautiful silhouette of a heron.
The word refers to Étienne de Silhouette the French minister of finance in 1759. Usually said to be so called because it was an inexpensive way of making a likeness of someone, a derisive reference to Silhouette's petty economies to finance the Seven Years' War, which were unpopular among the nobility. But another theory is that he decorated his chateau with such portraits. I like this one.
The image only hints at the reality which is much more beautiful.
Why do we do often only see people as we see this heron.... Outlines.... And miss their true beauty.
