Lousy Squirrel Feeder

My mother-in-law gave my this squirrel feeder a few years back. Every spring, I dutifully fill it with feed. The squirrels do come, but find it very difficult to eat the seeds. Can't understand why the product designers made the opening so small. At least they had the foresight to place a handy wire mesh all around the feeder to make it easy for the squirrels to hang on.
