Marching Orders. Lumix M4/3 14mm
This color rendition of my current woodshop project came over from the art department today. The two little cabinets and the chest of drawers are a riff on the Cape Dutch furniture tradition from South Africa. Normally, the frames are all dark wood, and the panels light. But I don't have enough of the precious Yellow Wood for the drawer fronts and the cabinet panels. So I have decided to veneer and inlay the panels with Olive-Ash burl, of which I have a ton from a project many years ago, to make the material go further. This is a page from the chef's handbook when it comes to dinner time: look in the refrigerator and so what needs to be cooked soon, or when unexpected guests show up for dinner, and the sausages must be quartered and the soup watered down. The dark wood will be Imbuya harvested from a musical instrument I made many years ago, and decided to recycle.
Now, all I have to do is make it...
