The Storm Breaks

The day was a misery. Last night it rained and as the temperatures plummeted 34 degrees in 24 hours snow began to fall. The wind picked up and by this morning conditions were so bad there were two separate auto pile ups of about eighteen and twenty eight vehicles which closed the highways for most of the day. It remained grey and windy until about 4:30 when the sun made a last valiant effort to salvage the day. For about forty five minutes the skies cleared and then dark descended. This photo was taken when the light trasnformed a dangerous day into a beautiful scene.
