Glasshouses

We took a different and slightly longer route for our walk today. Part of it involved using a footpath as a shortcut. Below us is the flood diversion channel, known as Ellerbeck at this location, the glasshouses are above the other bank. The glasshouses are used for tomato growing in the summer months so when we see local tomatoes in our greengrocers we know they are Stokesley tomatoes. I'm not sure if the carbon footprint is higher for glasshouse grown tomatoes which don't travel far or for those grown in warmer climates, such as Spain, but I like to support local businesses.
