Pointless

On my local railway station this morning. The guy on the left is cutting the grass - but there is no grass. The chap on the right is blowing the leaves away - but there is nowhere to blow the leaves to (back up the slope? onto the platform? onto the track?).
The were very busy, busy doing nothing, working the whole day through, trying to find lots of things not to do.
