Two eggs

Better today, but we had to wait for a shower to go over before walking down to the newsagent as we usually do. On the way home we passed these two shrubs which are good examples of well-clipped topiary. Unfortunately the shrub on the left is a camellia and it is very sad to see it trying hard to flower every spring. I'm afraid I subscribe to the view that hedges and topiary apart, if you have to prune a shrub then it's generally the wrong plant in the wrong place, the wrong plant in the right place or the right plant in the wrong place! Or something like that!

My extra is of a winter jasmine next door to the camellia - it looks a lot happier!

Quote of the Day:

Phyllis McGinley – “Men can't be trusted with pruning shears. . . . they are like boys with new pocket knives who will not stop whittling."
