White Heron with Chick

This is a back blip for Tuesday. What an amazing day we had sightseeing but the main object for the trip was to visit the White Heron sanctuary. I had been twice before but never when the chicks had hatched  The only place they breed in NZ and this year there were 58 breeding pairs. Absolutely awesome thing to see. We were in a hide looking across a narrow river to where they were all in their nests in the trees.
Pretty difficult to take as they were in bright sunshine so all the white feathers got blown out. The other friends got some pretty awesome shots with their long lens and steadier hands as for me was just happy to be there
