A Grey Day

A very grey day today which persuaded me that an indoor shot showed more promise. I had time to finish reading Max Hastings' single volume history of the Second World War. He has such a mastery of this subject that he has been able to construct a very tight narrative of the conflict and illuminate the events with excellent eye witness evidence of what it meant to be there.

I like Hastings as a writer and he provides a very nuanced evaluation of the events and personalities of the conflict.

One of his non military history books is "Did You Really Shoot the Television?" This is an account of his early life and yes he did shoot the television but you will need to read the book to find out why.
