Turnip field

I’ve seen the pickers in this field on several days (it’s within 1 km of my house).
I wanted to take a photo but was too embarrassed as it seems awful work. Today there was no one present so took one.
What do you do with turnips? I’ve never fancied them although I like other root vegetables.
