Fustian Needle

This is in St. Georges Square, Hebden Bridge.
The inscription reads: "This large scale replica of a Fustian Needle points true north directly towards Nutclough Mill, former home of Hebden Bridge Fustian Manufacturing Society (founded 1870), In its day the largest worker-producer co-operative in Britain. Ribbed Fustian is essentially heavy cloth such as corduroy, the needle, originally a hand tool, latterly incorporated into a loom, cut loops in the weft to create the effect on the cloth."

So now you know :-)
