Best Thanksgiving Ever
It was supposed to rain today. It did, but early in the day when no one was up anyway. By the time Samuel and I went out the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the temperatures were great.
It was so warm and lovely that my first neighbor was able to eat Thanksgiving lunch with her next-door neighbors on their deck. I think this may have been the most socializing she's done since the pandemic began.
They provided lunch, my food was dinner.
The greens my second neighbor provided were fantastic.
The turducken was fabulous. In addition to Thanksgiving just not being a great holiday for me, I've never been big on turkey. It is boring and dry. Once I hit adulthood and Karen and I did Thanksgiving by ourselves, we stuck with chicken because a turkey is too much for two people and who likes it anyway? But this was moist and delicious and interesting and everything I could have hoped for. In the extra you can see the progression from defrosting in the fridge to cooking in the oven to photographed as part of overall bounty to where the stuffing is hiding, deep inside. The foil in the one picture is because even our biggest pan wasn't quite big enough and some juice was dripping out. I went from never cooking a turkey before to cooking a turducken. Huzzah!
Main picture: I have absolutely no idea if this design someone is making on the tree means anything. The light in the sky is the moon, which seemed fitting.
