Nature’s Lava Lamp....its science baby!
52 Frames submission for “Nature” week 48.
We went skating yesterday at Gap Lake near Canmore. There are methane gas bubbles in this lake. The bubbles are produced when rotting vegetable and plant matter on the bottom of the lake release methane gas. The gas bubbles are trapped under the ice in stacks and stay there until the ice thaws in the spring. The green water is caused by a build up of glacial silt in the water. That my friends is the beauty of science! The skating was good too! 10 degrees c but extremely windy.
