Royal Infirmary Clocktower -Castle Street
This building was completed in 1881 as "Glasgow's Blind Asylum". It was built to help and support the visually impaired and poor of the City.
The inlaid statue (halfway up the tower) depicts Christ and a blind child.
It had been derelict for years, but has been totally refurbished and although, so far not occupied, the refurb. has ensured that one of Glasgow's best known landmarks has been saved.
Unfortunately, the refurb. has not been able to synchronise the clocks.
