I was out to mail the last of my parcels this morning. I brought my camera along and just kept going out past the airport and up into the Lac du Bois Protected Area. It's a bit of cheek to call it 'protected' as the pipeline development runs through it. 

The pipeline construction in the Lac du Bois area disturbed a hibernacula this week. The rattlesnakes were relocated to a nearby hibernaculum. The other snakes (gophersnakes and racers) were accomodated at our local wildlife park where they are being hibernated in a refrigerator. All the snakes will be released in the spring after the pipeline company rebuilds the hibernacula. 

Environmentalists have identified 50 species that are threatened by this needless pipeline in our province.
