………………..Duck



The blue duck is only found in New Zealand. It is a nationally vulnerable species and faces a risk of becoming extinct. Their Māori name is whio and it features on the New Zealand $10 note.

Information from Ngā Manu Nature Reserve explains it has a long term commitment to assist with the captive breeding of these ducks for coordinated release to the wild to boost populations.

Stormy weather has battered Wellington most of today, but particularly this afternoon and tonight it is still raging and battering us with strong southerly gusts of wind and heavy rain.
