It’s the simple things really.

Last year at Christmas time we came upon this, Christmas Preserve with Mulled Wine from MacKays. We bought one and I who don’t normally enjoy jam, fell in love.

I mean, I was smitten.

After a week or two of toast with preserves on it, my jar was empty. So I returned for more. I discovered that it was a limited supply, only available at Christmas. I bought them out, I think it was one or two more jars.

When they were empty, I looked all over for more. Just one more jar, please. I stopped in shops and stores and would ask pathetically if they had seen such. Always the answer was no. I’d slink back home, with a jam less future.

For a while I took it personally. But after a few months clearer heads prevailed. I secretly held out hope, maybe next Christmas.

Well yesterday while we were shopping, I thought I’d check their “Foods from The UK” section. And what to my wandering eyes should appear, but five new jars of Christmas Preserve with mulled wine.

I called out to Lauralea from down the aisle the good news! Immediately she was by my side. Right next to the Preserve was one of Lauralea’s favourites. Christmas Marmalade with Cranberries.

We emptied the shelf and returned home like we had found hidden treasure.

So now it seems that whatever else may happen this Christmas, our hearts will be happy and full, of Christmas Preserve with Mulled Wine and Christmas Marmalade with Cranberries.
